NAGARAHOLE/IRPU TREK PHOTOS!!!!!!!!

Here's a collection of Nagarahole and Irpu photos.

Nagarahole Trek & Irpu falls:
This was organized by Youth Hostel,Bangalore.

We started on 15th Aug 2003 At 11Pm & reached Nagarahole on 16th Aug @ around 8AM. After Breakfast we started for Trekking by dividing ourselves into 2 groups -odd & Even
each comprising of about 17.I was in odd group. We started from one direction & the other group started from opposite direction.

Along with us there were 4 guards for security with Rifels.They took us to a place, which looked like Jurassic park fence. with Electric wires. basically to keep away Elephants...After
crossing this our trek started Oh..it was really great...Trekking in thick forest by making way ourselves. Everywhere it was green..we could hear sound of birds, animals & insects...

By afternoon around 2PM both the groups met near a stream. By this time we had trekked approximately 14 kms. After Lunch and exchange of experience we started again..in
opposite direction. Balvinder, Raghu,chaitra and myself we were in front followed by subbu, Rahul, Parthi & others. But it was little bit difficult for sheetal & her sis...By 6:30 PM we
reached our destination (Canteen)..By this time we had trekked approximately 10kms...By this time almost everyone could feel the pain of carrying Rucksack...

After having tea we watched a documentary on Nagarahole...After Dinner the cultural activities started & it was over by 11PM.It started off with bajan from Chaitra.Immediately followed
by another bajan form Subbu (which was not a bajan but Jadoo teri nazar in om jai jagadish tune). Then there were shaayaris from sheetal and Shiva. There were very beautiful songs
from shashi, arundathi....

17th Aug

I got up at 6...Even Subbu & parthi got ready by this time...We went for safari thinking that we could see some animals (Tiger :-). we could see only deer's and peacock.subbu was very
upset as we couldn't see any wild animals.... After returning from safari we started of for Irpu falls.

Irpu falls: We started from a temple about 1km from the Irpu falls. As we neared the falls we could here the sound of the falls...It is a very beautiful falls......Almost everyone got into
water ....Everyone started shivering as the water was chilled...But after sometime we got adjusted and reached the base of irpu..Subbu and Raghu helped non-swimmers (like me)
to reach the base. While swimmers like subbu, kiran, Sandeep,Chaitra were able to reach the base themselves....We spent around 1 hour in Irpu falls...After this we visited the temple...
The view was spectacular....We returned back to nagarhole.A speech was arranged for us from Shashi with Forest officer Ravindra Kumar.He shared his experience & gave few tips
about conserving forest and animals. After Lunch at around 2:30 we started of for Bangalore. We reached Bangalore by 11PM.

We should thank the organizers for making this a big success. I should thank subbu for informing me about this trek. Also many thanks to Parthi who had got his camera and for taking
my snaps more than his :-) Also I should thank all of them for their help & cooperation. After this trek my friend's circle has increased.
